YEG’s Mammen Tharakan joins Air Cargo Tech Summit 2023

The Air Cargo Next editorial team is pleased to announce that Mammen Tharakan, director of air service, business development and e-commerce, cargo and aviation real estate at Edmonton International Airport, will join a panel discussion on sustainability at the Air Cargo Tech Summit 2023 taking place Sept. 18-19 in Brussels.

For “Sustainability in air cargo equipment and fuel: How far can we go in 2023,” the panel will discuss global sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) developments, aircraft technology improvements to comply with new environmental standards, and regulations and government incentives crucial to sustainability. The session begins at 3:45 p.m. local time on Monday, Sept. 18.

“Sustainability is at the forefront of the supply chain,” Tharakan told Air Cargo Next. “There is a tremendous opportunity to use innovation and technology to enhance the sustainability of the air cargo business. I look forward to sharing learnings on our advancement towards carbon-neutrality while collaborating with industry leaders to grow air cargo responsibly. True change happens in partnership with others.”

Tharakan joined Edmonton International Airport (YEG) in 2018 as the director of e-commerce, cargo and aviation real estate. Prior to that, he was a station manager with Air France-KLM and the manager of air service development at Calgary Airport Authority.

Air Cargo Tech Summit 2023 will provide two days of discussions, panel conversations and networking events with experts in the airfreight industry. Topics to be addressed include digital booking, innovations in ground handling and warehousing, digital records, drones and more.
